Is the electoral map permanently derailed to favor democrats every election for now on?

No. McCain could have theoretically won the electoral college and lost the popular vote by as much as 5 million votes. Didn't GW win the EC but not the popular? So Dems have to win both just to have a chance. I say the EC is outdated, get rid of it.
