How do I speed up my roast/stew?

I put the stew cubes and veggies in the slow cooker around 2:30 on high. I don't know what i was thinking because it's not going to be ready until like 8:30 now. How do I speed this up? Can I put it on the stove top and boil it, or put it in the oven? Any suggestions would help!
