Can I make a javalina (peckory) leg in the crock pot the same as I would make ribs?

I was thinking a layer of thick onion slices on the whole bottom of the pot then the javalina leg covered in a whole bottle of BBQ sauce on high for about three hours....then I would make bbq sandwiches on a nice sesame roll with dill pickle chips
